Industrial tubing rollers are not to be confused with commercial tubing rollers, which are simple manual devices that are used for applications such as squeezing out the remaining toothpaste from the bottom of the tube.
As a specific type of tube bending equipment, industrial tubing rollers are extremely common and are widely used in a range of industries and applications such as: industrial manufacturing, as various components in automation equipment systems including conveyor rollers and compactors; food and beverage, to be used in processing plants for the delivery of bulk solids, liquids and gases; aerospace, for use in spacecraft and flight hardware such as fuel systems and structural components; agriculture, to be used in farming equipment and fluid delivery for applications such as irrigation systems; and marine, for use in structural components and internal components such as exhaust systems.
Able to be manually, mechanically, pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically-powered, tubing rollers are also commonly utilized in industries such as automotive, petroleum, chemical processing, wastewater, construction and more.
Tubing rollers are also commonly known as roller benders. A roll bender most often consists of three rolls, two of which are moved and thus used to form the bend in the tubing. The breakdown of the roll bending process is that the tube is initially passed through a series of rollers (most often three) that apply pressure to the tubing while gradually changing the bend radius in the tube. There are several different types of tubing rollers including pyramid style and double pinch type.
When it comes tot eh pyramid style roll benders, there is have one moving roll, which is usually the top roll. Double pinch type roll benders, on the other hand, have two adjustable rolls, which are usually the bottom rolls, and a stationary top roll. This method of tube bending causes very little deformation in the cross section of the tube and is well-suited to producing coils of tubing as well as long gentle bends much like those that are used in truss systems.
In addition, this method of tube bending is best suited for forming helical-shaped tubing. Also, roller benders, while they are primarily used for tube rolling, can also be used for pipe rolling. For pipe rolling (as well as tube rolling), several different roller types can be used including spindle-shaped, pyramid-style and double pinch type.
